Our Squamish based client is a metal fabricator that makes everything from simple coffee tables and other metal structures (like the new public bus stops around Squamish), to large modular complex packaged equipment commonly used in the power industry. This is a fun work environment with a fast growing company, offering competitive wages, extended benefits, education support and plenty of growth potential. They have immediate need for Pipe Fitters, Structural Welders and Pressure Welders. Ideally suited to experienced journeymen, but also open to applications from apprentices with some experience. Pay is in the range of $35-$40/hr based on experience.
About the Roles:
- Full-time, 40 hours per week – plenty of overtime if desired.
- Also offering temporary contract placements (min 4 shifts per week).
- Shift work typically Monday to Friday, 3:30PM to 11:30PM. Some flexibility available. Option to work 4 x 10hour shifts is also available.
- Positions are starting immediately.
- Wage ranges starting at $35-$40/hr per hour for qualified journeymen based on position, experience and certifications.
- Apprenticeship roles also available (must have min 2 years experience).
- Potential to assist with housing for out of town applicants.
- Placements are from 4-6 months with potential for permanent.
- All tools, supplies and equipment is provided.
The Perfect Candidate:
PRESSURE WELDERS:
- Experienced journeyman pressure welder capable of radiographic quality welds.
- Requires a minimum of 5 years welding experience.
- Ideally, with previous experience working as a pipe or vessel welder in the oil and gas or related industries.
- Ability to read spool sheets / piping isometrics/ GA’s. The facility uses FCAW, GTAW and SMAW processes for in position and roll welding.
- Must have one of the following certs:
- Journeyman Welder Certificate of Qualification issued by the Industry Training Authority of British Columbia; or
-
- Registered A or B Level Certificate of Qualification for welding (with or without Red Seal) issued by the Industry Training Authority of British Columbia; or
- Journeyman Welder Certification of Qualification from another jurisdiction – eg B pressure welder from AB.
STRUCTURAL WELDERS:
- Able to work with the team to fit up and weld structural frames, shells, lugs, railings, ladders, platforms and stairs.
- Must have CWB tickets for GMAW (flat) and FCAW (all positions).
- Must be at least a C level welder.
- Must be able to read structural drawings and weld details.
- Minimum of 4 years of welding experience.
PIPE FITTERS:
- Experienced pipe fabricators able to read piping isometrics, spool sheets and general arrangement drawings.
- Must be able to put together pipe spool pieces to feed the pipe welders.
- The pipe fabricator will also be required to complete wet bolt up (hydro tests) and dry bolt up (final assembly) of complete skid packages.
- Journey steam / pipe fitters would be preferred but apprentices can also apply.
- Preference given to those with 4+ years of experience.
