A busy, full service law firm in Squamish who prides itself on excellence, compassion and fairness, is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant or Paralegal to join their team!  Offering a competitive salary plus extended health benefits.   Ideally suited for those with 1+ years experience working within the law industry who has strong communication, organizational and time management skills and have their Legal Assistant or Paralegal certification.

About the Role, Benefits & Perks: 

  • Full Time – 35 hours per week.
  • Monday to Friday, 9AM to 5PM (1-hour lunch break) with some flexibility.

The Perfect Candidate: 

  • Legal Assistant – preference given to those with 1+ years of experience in the field.
  • Paralegal – preference given to those with 3+ years of experience within the field.
  • Legal Assistant or Paralegal certificate or diploma.
  • Preference given to candidates with strong experience in Wills & Estates and Corporate law.
  • Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office, Adobe, BC Online and LTSA.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Personable, friendly and able to develop strong working relationships.
  • Very organized with a strong attention to detail; able to work well under pressure, manage heavy workloads and time effectively.
  • Ability to work independently on tasks and in a team-oriented setting; takes ownership of assigned tasks.
  • High level of confidentiality and discretion towards sensitive information.
  • Career driven, motivated self-starter with a team-oriented attitude.

Responsibilities Include: 

  • Assisting with estate planning and estate administration files.
  • Corporate – filing annual reports, incorporating companies, keeping minute books up-to-date.
  • Working with clients to gather information and assisting lawyer prepare for client meetings.
  • Conducting searches, such as corporate, land title and personal property registry.
  • Liaise professionally with clients.
  • Handle administrative details with respect to maintaining contacts, e-filing, client list, accounting, opening and closing files.
  • Calendar management, including arranging client meetings.
  • Ability to be flexible to the changing demands of the job.
  • Answering phone calls and emails, setting appointments and meetings.
