The British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) SITE Centre invites applications for a Research Assistant to assist with a literature review on Barriers to Employment for Indigenous People and Best Practices for Employers. Responsibilities include searching library catalogues and databases for literature and compiling a comprehensive list of relevant literature for review.

About this Role:

The Perfect Candidate:

  • Interest or knowledge in the subject matter:  Barriers to Employment for Indigenous People and Best Practices for Employers.
  • Excellent academic research and writing skills
  • Experience conducting literature reviews.
  • Experience analyzing abstracts.
  • Attention to detail, critical thinking and organization skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including oral and written (english).
  • Ability to work independently, productively, and creatively.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous history, culture and traditions are very beneficial.
  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a Masters or Bachelors Degree in a related field would be an asset.

Responsibilities Include:

  • The research assistant’s primary responsibility will be to search library catalogues and databases for literature and compile a comprehensive list of relevant literature for review.
  • The work will be completed independently with weekly reporting to the Principle Researcher.
  • Responsibilities may increase to include activity such as undertaking literature reviews and assisting with analysis.
