The Downtown Squamish Business Improvement Association is looking for a part-time Executive Director.  This is a part time, contract position providing administrative support, customer service, web support, and general assistance to the BIA Board and it’s members. Ideally suited to a self-starter with strong organizational and project administration skills.

About the Role:

  • The DSBIA is the collective voice of the downtown businesses including property owners and their operating business tenants.
  • Reporting to the Board of Directors through the DSBIA President, the Executive Director’s hours would be approximately 10hrs/week.
  • Schedule may vary depending upcoming events and promotions.
  • Competitive wages based on experience.
  • This is a work from home role, though candidates must be able to meet with merchants downtown Squamish at least once per week.

The Perfect Candidate:

  • A minimum of three years working at an executive level within a not for profit organization.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and use of governance, Robert’s rules of order.
  • Extremely well organized with and a keen understanding of internal controls and eye for details.
  • Experience working in a small business/entrepreneurial environment.
  • Demonstrates a high level of proficiency in a variety of computer software, website maintenance.
  • Excellent verbal, social, and written communication skills.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide support for the Board and committees in effective and efficient governance.
  • Maintain mailing lists members, media, committee members, etc.
  • Develop annual budget, event budgets, and some booking keeping.
  • Research and apply for annual grants, provide feedback on those grants.
  • Current knowledge on District polices which affect businesses with the BIA catchment.
  • Organize and implement Annual General Meeting.
  • Prepare, produce and distribute membership newsletters and seasonal event listings.
  • Regular communications with existing DSBIA members, weekly merchant visits.
  • Liaise with community groups, agencies and the District of Squamish.
  • DSBIA Community Enhancement, research, manage and develop new initiatives.
  • Website, MailChip/Enews, maintenance and development as needed.
  • Work with the Event Manager in the co-ordination of annual events (3 in total).
  • Provide and develop marketing and promotional opportunities to our members
  • Act as a resource for members looking to connect with events are within Squamish.
